Finally had my first flight session after returning to Singapore. Nice to meet my friends again after a 3 months break! I actually crashed this quad really bad into a concrete wall right before leaving the country, but i'm glad that it's still working well 3 months later :) Pardon the Youtube Music! I figured it'd still be better than static.. Here's some of the parts used for this quad! Okie this isn't exactly drone related, but gimbals and drones are good friends, and sometimes a gimbal in your hand is a great thing to have!
This was taken on a Xperia Z5 + DJI Osmo Mobile. I strongly recommend this product for vacations, it's a bit pricey, but probably much cheaper than a good lens for your SLR, and your mobile phone instantly becomes an amazing video camcorder!
Some shots would've been better with a Tripod, but I'm more than happy with these results!

Eachine Racer 250 Pro Review
Hi guys! After finally settling down a bit at Vancouver, I got some time to do up the first of my long overdue reviews, the Eachine Racer 250 Pro!
While not a race machine, the Eachine Racer 250 Pro provides a nice cheap platform for new comers to get their feet wet with Drone FPV Flying.
Check out the video to see what I think about this quad!
You can find this budget flyer here

Had a blast flying the Aurora 90 once again at a playground nearby.
These micro quads are so convenient to fly!
So I was helping out to fix a trail at one of North Shore's beautiful trails, and of course what did I bring along?
We all had a blast watching this little fighter whizz around chasing the bikers :P
Also featured in this video is the DJI Osmo Mobile.

Did my first "serious" flying in Vancouver today.
I'm really bad at flying without gates and cones, but nevertheless I had fun!
I'm really bad at flying without gates and cones, but nevertheless I had fun!
Wow it's been so long since I took the Aurora100 out for a flight.
This time it's in a rather tight and confusing location (it's so easy to lose your way!) I almost lost the quad over a steep slope after a crash..
In any case, still a very fun quad to fly, with just enough power to zip around those tight spaces.
I'm no good flying without gates and cones.. but anyway here goes! First full throttle flight in Vancouver! Quad needs some tuning for sure but I'll just leave it alone till I get back to Singapore..
Too bad I don't have runcam split or my 5" quads with me..
This is a <250g AUW 130mm built from my spares!

Hey guys! i've been quiet for quite a while cause i've been preparing to move to Vancouver. I'll be here for the next 2 to 3 months!
Thankfully all my equipment made it through customs safely, and here's my first flight in Vancouver!
Not sure if it really counts as flying in Vancouver.. but oh well!
The Aurora90 is a blast! Flying this lap is totally different from flying in the field, and its really much harder than it seems!

Had a blast last week with the maiden flight of my new quad, based on the DYS F4 AIO FC from www.banggood.com
With the F4 controller, it easily handled 8khz/8khz even with Accelerometer off.
As you can see from the video, this quad has pretty much no prop-wash oscillations at all!
It's a raw video so please turn down your speakers :P
I haven't calibrated the current sensor yet either, so please ignore the current readings.
Full Quad Specs will be up in a bit :)

Ok... so I flashed my Alien from 3.0.1 to 3.1.7 and it decided to develop new functions by its own.. (flip out of the sky..)
Butttt, I have something even more interesting this week!
My friend Wilson was with us today and flew his brand new AstroX True X 220!
Whichhh... also broke down on the second batt.. However he was already so fast on his first battery!
Sometimes I really feel I'm getting too old for this...

Hey guys! I had a ShenDrones Butters that was sitting around collecting dust, and technology has moved forward quite a bit since, so I decided to salvage what I could from the Butters and build a Micro quad!
As you will see from the buildlist, these are pretty old stuff, but after the maiden, I think this quad will be plenty of fun still!
Part list is as follows:
Frame (modified to be very low stack)
AIO FC+PDB
AIO Camera+VTX
(the one i'm using seems to be discontinued)
ESCs
(I have LittleBee BLHeli 20A ESCs but it doesn't make sense to get these either now)
Motors
Looking forward to bring this quad out for a run this weekend!

Last week I knew the X1 was in shape after changing props, but this week I got the numbers to back it up!
If you recall this vid:
The top speed was capped around 60+ KPH, even pushing a higher throttle the speed didn't go faster.
But check out today's vid! 130KPH and it looked like it could do more!

ImpulseRC Alien vs Holybro Shuriken X1 preview, from www.gearbest.com
Meant to bring these 2 together for a rematch today, after last week's disadvantaged battle to the Shuriken X1 (crazy max throttle oscillations)
Thankfully, today I managed to fix the Shuriken X1!!
Turns out it was the props after all!
Find the Shuriken X1 Here
The HQProp 5x4x3 Durables v1 proved to be too flexible for the T-Motor F40 2206 2600kV Motors, and caused all sorts of problems which I initially thought was due to the tuning.
Today I swapped on the kingkong 5040x3 Props, and the issues were pretty much gone!
No more random pitch ups/etc.
These props are highly similar to the MrSteele HQProps which came with the X1, and you can find them here:
After a big round, I believe the X1 is finally flying close to her potential.
However..... the skies decided to end today's session early, and I only managed to get 1 pack out before the skies called it a day..
The Shuriken X1 was flying at ~60deg tilt while the Alien ~45deg tilt, and the difference in speed is obvious (not to mentioned I crashed the Alien..)
I usually time the 5th pack of each quad so that I have time to get used to the characteristics of that quad.
I also noticed that the Camera on Shuriken X1 made it easier for me to spot my blue coloured gates!

Satisfied Flight!
Had a blast today flying 3 different quads - the Aurora 100, Impulse RC Alien 5", and the Shuriken X1.
The Shuriken X1 is still giving me issues (a different one this time), and hopefully it will be solved with a set of new props. I will also look for a wider lens for it next week...
The Aurora 100 and ImpulseRC Alien 5" both brought a smile to my face today!
Aurora100 for surprising me with its lap timings, and the Alien for being such a badass quad even though I've neglected her for quite a few months now..
Do check out the vids from today!

Aurora 100 REBORN

Shuriken X1 + Garmin Edge = Awesome Telemetry!
Been wanting to do this for a long time now, but never got my lazy bum down to do it
Result is great! Was half wondering how well the Garmin would be able to track the quad's movements, and it turned out pretty well I guess =)
The Shuriken X1 can definitely go faster as you can see in my other vids, but.. Garmins.. don't.. come.. cheap... >.<

Shuriken X1 - Byebye Yaw Oscillations!
Thank you Philip Mark and Gm for setting up the course!!
After yesterday's success on the bench (no more oscillations at low/mid throttle), I was eager to bring the Shuriken X1 out to see if the problems were indeed solved.
What can I say.. YES!!!!! The oscillations I've become used to are gone!!!
Unfortunately my PIDs were whacked (they were from the previous settings when I was trying to solve the yaw oscillation issue) but now that the mysterious yaw oscillations are truly gone, I can concentrate on pushing this quad to its fullest potential! =)
If you have a Shuriken X1, I strongly suggest you to softmount your motors.
I used these rubber dampers

Soft Mounted Motors - Does it work?
Hi guys! For those who have followed my channel, you'd know that I've been trying to fix some yaw oscillation issues with my Shuriken X1.
Initially I thought I fixed it with the loose camera lens element, and while that did solve most of the oscillation issues, I noticed that I still had some yaw oscillations especially at certain throttle levels.
With moriwaky's suggestion from RCGroups forums, and after how nothing else seemed to work, I decided to soft-mount the motors.
Apparently these T-Motor F40ii 2600kV motors were notoriously difficult to tune, and I was not the only one having issues with it (people had issues with it on other frames as well)
Do note that although I didn't show it in the video, I did test the motors individually, and all of them displayed the same symptoms at ~1260 throttle albeit at different intensities, so it's not 1 broken motor or something like that.
So does soft mounting work? check out the video to find out!

Been a while since I brought the GB-X210 out for a spin, and my dear friend set up a new course today!
Also flashed Betaflight 3.1.6 to try out the Anti-Gravity settings but I think my I term still needs a bit of tuning (either that or the anti-gravity settings need to be changed), getting some bounceback at the end of rolls..
This quad never fails to impress! It was a pretty open track so even though I was trying to control the throttle, batteries still came down pretty hot after ~3minutes of flight.

[TK Lap] Martian III with OMNIBUS Betaflight F3 FC
Here's my spare part quad, pretty good don't you think? :D
This FC is my new favourite bang for buck FC, you can find it here:
An OSD isn't necessary, but it really makes life a lot easier, and after numerous punchouts I confirm that the BFOSD is stable (unlike some mwosd installations which are really sensitive to the 5V line).

[TK Lap] Holybro Shuriken X1
This Quad's PIDs still need some working on, thinking of trying out some new props (just ordered) cause nothing seems to be solving the low/mid throttle issues.
However since most of the time I'm not at at low/mid throttle, this Quad is a blast to fly!

Micro Tech Lap with Eachine Chaser88
Couldn't resist taking the Chaser88 out for another run after adjusting the PIDs.
The cameras did well under the low lighting conditions as well!
I lowered my rates and ended up with a very controllable quad, and the lap timing reflected this with a 3 second (~10%) reduction in fastest lap timing!
Check out the video below:

Holybro Shuriken X1
from www.gearbest.com

Just flew the Holybro Shuriken X1 from www.gearbest.com earlier this morning:
To say i'm amazed would be an understatement
Even though I saw some items I didn't like in the factory Betaflight Configuration settings, I deliberately flew this quad in its "out-of-the-box" condition.
The only thing I changed were the "modes" and the rates.
PIDs, Telemetry, OSD, Failsafe, everything was left as it is, directly out of the box.
I did not even calibrate the ESCs.
Even then it flew really well, and I could get used to the quad very quickly!
Out-of-the-box, I already matched my best timing on this lap, and this is currently running at 2khz/1khz, with OneShot125.
I have great expectations for this quad in the near future, after some tweaking of the settings.
Do subscribe and stay tuned for the full review!

ImpulseRC Alien 5"
This is my personal quad, and it used to be one of the meanest quads on earth.
Alas technology has progressed and there are now even meaner quads..
However this quad continues to be one of the smoothest quads I own and the joy I get from flying it has not decreased since the day I built her.
